Twitter

  1. Boredom during winter break
  2. My ever-increasing desire to be more connected
  3. Sheer curiosity
  4. Hell has frozen over

These are some possible reasons why I did something yesterday that I swore I would never do…join Twitter.

  1. I like Twitter, though I am not quite sure I use it in a normal way. I follow informative people, museums, and news outlets who share things I can learn. It seems there is a good portion of people on Twitter who are interested in these kinds of things. This gives me hope, and it is always neat to see a new article posted by the Met, or something interesting from the Royal Opera House, or an interesting editorial from The Catholic Herald. Twitter is surprisingly flexible according to your interests.

  2. The other trick is following just enough people that you can read their tweets. It depends on the frequency of tweets from those you follow and all that. I still haven’t figured it out. I don’t check my tweets every day, and sometimes I check all day, so I tend to miss a lot no matter what. I used to follow my favorite sports sites, but they tweeted stupid nonsense every five minutes and I got tired of it.
